- R-GT cars to run on next month’s Logiman Mythical Cars Rally
- Drivers of spectacular GT cars request entries on all-new Italian event
- Seven stages, 80kms and one incredible occasion from May 24-27
- Adamo: “R-GT cars will make the event even more spectacular.”
Porsche, Abarth, Alpine and Lotus are all names synonymous with some of rallying’s most spectacular cars.
Given that the spectacle is what Logiman Mythical Cars Rally (May 24-27) is all about, it’s no surprise to see the category included in next month’s all asphalt event.
And they’re there by popular demand.
Logiman Mythical Cars Rally advisor Andrea Adamo said: “Logiman Mythical Cars Rally is all about bringing the most spectacular – and special – cars from a generation of this great sport. R-GT cars have both a long and a short history in rallying. Look back and you see Jean-Pierre Nicolas winning Monte Carlo in a Porsche 911, a few years later and Ferrari 308s were running on the very roads we will use in May.
“It’s only sensible for us to bring the latter day R-GT cars to our party in Varzi. I remember watching François Delecour drive that 911 GT3 on selected WRC rounds and being totally transfixed by the sight and sound of this thing. Why wouldn’t we want them with us?
“We have been taking calls from crews who wanted to come and join us on Logiman Mythical Cars Rally and, I must say, we will be delighted to see them. Like I said, these are some of the most spectacular cars in the sport – to have them in our stages will be something very special.”
With just a month to go before Logiman Mythical Cars Rally, the excitement is seriously building, with double world champion Marcus Grönholm and world rally winner Andreas Mikkelsen topping a star-studded and top-quality entry list.
Based out of Varzi and running across some of the Lombardy’s most spectacular and famous stages, the route is tailored to showcase the best aspects of the sport and the stunning surroundings.
The all-asphalt event is split across two days. The organisers are running an innovative, seven-hour shakedown stage through Friday May 26, with the opening test set for 1948 that evening. Saturday brings six more stages and a total of 78 competitive kilometres.
Open to R-GT cars, Group A, including Super 1600, Super 2000, kit cars and World Rally Cars.
